Phoenix tails and Flies. 2008.
Chopsticks, chopstick wrappers, plastic files, flora foam bricks.
The work features a mini “Chinese garden” inside DEAF space at Darwin Visual Art Association. Using phoenix patterns and flies as metaphor for the contrast of beauty and ugliness, Zhou shows an out-positioned Chinese culture that she found in this hush and rough land of Northern Territory.
